]]>I started at Boeing Aerostructures Australia as a Materials and Process Technology Engineer, and have been a part of designing and qualifying most of the processes used to fabricate the 787 Moveable Trailing Edge (which is on the wing). I’ve taken all that knowledge with me into my role in Quality and the practical, hands-on experience helps me be a better engineer. I have always (and will always be) passionate about bringing more women into STEM careers. It’s a great place to be!

]]>As a child and pre-teen I’d constantly help my dad with any home projects making me realise my passion for all things hands-on! Getting into high school I had a taste of woodworks, metal works etc which made me choose engineering as one of my subjects from year 9 to year 12.
During high school the more I learnt about the industry the more it intrigued me even if it is considered a male dominated profession – which was clearly evident as I was 1 or 2 girls in my engineering class. After I graduated I pursued Mechanical Engineering at university hoping it would take me out to the hangar and tarmac, though after a year I realised it wasn’t the path that’d take me where I wanted. I stopped my course and started searing for something else.
After searching I came across a TAFE course for Aeroskills Cert 2, enrolled in it and I absolutely loved it!
I was able to apply for the Boeing Female Apprenticeship Program and even more lucky to have been selected as part of the first intake that started in September 2022.
This apprenticeship for me meant progressing further into my dream career but it also meant having to move away from family as I moved states for this job and qualification. Though there are bittersweet moments the job in itself has been a dream, and honestly so much better than what I had thought. I can’t wait to finish the apprenticeship and see what the future holds for me!

]]>When I graduated high school, my focus was on becoming a pilot in the Australian Defence Force. Unfortunately, this pathway wasn’t meant to be so I starting looking into engineering.
I enrolled to study Mechanical Engineering at QUT in 2014, and made the move from my home-town of Toowoomba, to Brisbane.
After two years of full-time study, I was offered a Cadetship back in Toowoomba at mining/manufacturing company. I continued my studies part-time, online at UniSQ, while working full-time. This was a great way to study and gain industry experience.
Upon completing my degree, I continued on with my first employer as a Graduate Engineer. I worked there for a total of 6.5 years, up until I started at Boeing in mid-2022. Now here I am, working as an engineer in the industry I’ve always strived to be a part of.

]]>No career path is a straight-line; the twists and turns on mine have led me to study, work and live overseas as well as work on cutting-edge technologies across different military and passenger aircraft. Currently at Boeing, I am a structural analysis engineer where I work within a team of engineers to solve aircraft design problems.
