About me

  • International Experience
  • Regional Background

My role as a police officer with the Queensland Police Service provides me the opportunity to serve and protect my community.

I decided to join the police ‘late in life’ after I had been thinking about doing it for ages. It just goes to show you are never too old to find out what you love doing and to pursue your dreams. I completed my police recruit course and started working as a general duties police officer, which is the type of police officer the community will see on a day-to-day basis.

I then progressed into a specialisation and am now a Senior Intelligence Officer. Intelligence is fun because I get paid to be a nosey nerd.

The role of a police officer is to protect and serve the community in all parts of the state of Queensland. This profession is not for the light-hearted as it is fast paced, challenging, but also extremely rewarding. There are many career pathways within the Queensland Police Service and some of these pathways include specialist roles. One of these specialist roles is the role of an intelligence officer.

The role of an intelligence officer is to gather data and information and analyse it to develop a picture or understanding of a person or issue. The information gathered is referred to as ‘intelligence’.

An intelligence officer must have good communication skills, possess problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and critical thinking skills, and excellent situational awareness.
